Baseball Season Begins

The Liberty Flames baseball team had their first series of home games this weekend against Delaware State, and it couldn’t have gone better! First of all, Lynchburg had its first warm weekend in what has seemed like forever. The bright sun and 50 degree air made for the perfect baseball weather. The first weekend of warm weather mixed with the first weekend of flames baseball made for one packed out stadium! There was not an empty seat in the stands during Saturday’s game, so many fans enjoyed the event from the surrounding grassy area.

The flames started out with a 5-0 lead in the first inning and continued to make run after run throughout the game, with a final score of 16-0. Liberty also won their other two games against Delaware State on Friday and Sunday. Though this weekend’s games were the first of Liberty’s home games, they have had six previous away games and have come out victorious in all of them as well!

Liberty Athletic Department employee and announcer of the baseball games, Allen Sparks, is excited about this sure to be awesome season, saying, "I officially dub the song, 'This Is Our Moment' by Kenny Chesney, the official song of Liberty Flames Baseball 2010. Download it. Listen to it. Learn it. Then strap in because this season is gonna be a great ride."
