Spring Coffeehouse Tryouts
March 8, 2010Liberty students were given the opportunity to participate in auditions for the 2010 Spring Coffeehouse. The auditions were held in the Tilley Student Center, which provided those hanging out in Tilley a preview of the talent. Students were allowed to watch auditions and show their support for the acts they enjoyed. The auditions spanned two weeks and the acts ranged from comical and serious, to dramatic and sheer enjoyment. Some bands covered their favorite songs, or played originals "mashed-up" with other popular tunes (thank you “Glee” for that idea). There were several groups that put together choreographed dances, including hip-hop, ballet and even break-dancing. Some theatrical students enjoyed entering with skits and sketches. There were also comedians as well as students interested in showcasing poetry. Another opportunity for students to participate is by submitting comical, dramatic or even nonsensical videos. Call it a battle of the bands, label it a talent show, but we here at Liberty call it “Coffeehouse”.
Coffeehouse will be held on March 26th, and usually draws a large crowd. The late-night event will be titled "Coffeehouse 2.0", as Student Activities attempts to outdo every Coffeehouse they’ve done since its beginning. Tickets are $3 for students, but there are also tables in the premium seating area that are $64.
