Teacher Candidate Breakfast/ Fair

February 23, 2010

The education department at Liberty not only provides a great education for it's students, but it also tries to provide job opportunities and interview practice. All the student teachers at Liberty had Monday off to attend a breakfast to mingle with recruiters, followed by the opportunity to interview with them. The teacher candidates and recruiters were fed a delicious continental breakfast and chatted with the recruiters. The recruiters were all very friendly and had nothing but good things to say about their experience working with Liberty students. Though circumstances are tough for candidates who are looking to teach in Virginia, all of the recruiters were very positive and encouraging, claiming that there is always a necessity for wonderful teachers like those who graduate from Liberty.

Following the breakfast, the recruiters moved to their stands, and teacher candidates went from stand to stand to learn about all the different schools and to interview with schools they found appealing. There were many schools from Virginia, Christian schools from Maryland, North Carolina and Georgia, and a variety of schools overseas. Most of the Christian schools were looking to fill some positions, and all of the international schools were looking for many new teachers. All teacher candidates were required to have at least one formal interview whether or not they really wanted a job with any of the schools at the fair because it provided great practice for the many interviews they are likely to encounter in the near future.
