Hockey Game
February 23, 2010
This past Saturday, Liberty's hockey team played Rutger's University at the LaHaye Ice Center. The flames won the game with a great defeat of 8-2, but the big lead did not happen right away.
In the first period, the game seemed to be evenly matched, with the teams tied 2-2. The flames were up to 5 goals at the end of the second period and scored three more in the third. A Liberty victory is no surprise with their 25-2 record so far this season.
The Ice Center was the most crowded I have ever seen it; there was not an empty seat to be found. The large crowd cheered time after time as the flames continued to score. The entertainment at a Liberty game does not end after the team goes off the ice. In between periods, there are always challenges for the fans. At Saturday's game, one such challenge consisted of scoring a goal, pushing a person in a chair down to the other end of the rink, and then running back to the other end in a three legged race (and the girls totally rocked it). Much to my surprise and enjoyment, I was ready to hand over my five dollar bill, but the game cost was reduced to two bucks!
