CPCE Offers CPR Course

September 24, 2009

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Liberty University students learned how to save lives at a CPR/First Aid course. Liberty’s Center for Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) offered the course in partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Students and members of the community came to learn the procedure of CPR from certified firefighter paramedics. The course taught the entire CPR procedure, from creating a safe scene, to using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). There were also plastic dummies on hand to practice proper CPR techniques.

Students were then taught the basics of first aid, learning what to do for emergencies like burns, cuts, shock and strokes. At the end of the two hours, students received their certification in CPR.

The OSHA CPR/First Aid class is one of many non-credit courses being offered by Liberty this year. Visit the CPCE website for a list of upcoming courses.
