Convocation - 8/28
August 28, 2009Today's Convocation was filled with brand new information, news and facts about Liberty. The first "Around Liberty in 90 Seconds" was shown today and was packed full of new information for the students including the purchase of Campus East by Liberty University. This purchase will help LU save about 2.5 million dollars. For more information about this purchase, please click HERE.
Campus Pastor Dwayne Carson followed "90 Seconds" by announcing a free concert by The Glorious Unseen tonight in the Tilley Center, the grand opening of the Snowflex Centre and LU's annual Block Party. Both events are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 29. Carson also informed students that LUPD will begin to enforce parking regulations starting this coming Monday.
Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. then took the stage and encouraged students to obey Light Medical's health policies and sarcastically asked students to follow LU's policy on PDA (Public Display of Affection). Falwell went on to inform students about the many upgrades that are going to be underway in the upcoming months and years. Including facility upgrades on the Vines Center and Williams Stadium.
Liberty University co-founder, Elmer Towns, addressed the students and encouraged them by reminding them that God has a plan for their lives, referencing Jeremiah 1:5.
