YouthQuest Auditions
April 10, 2009Last Friday night, over 60 CFAWers and Liberty students gathered in the Religion Hall for YouthQuest auditions. YouthQuest is a ministry team here at LU that is out of the Center for Youth Ministries. The YQ team consists of 4 different teams: Worship, Drama, Discipleship and Media (just added this upcoming fall semester). Auditions were held for all 4 teams Friday night.
As the waiting room began to fill up, members from the YQ Drama team entertained the potential YouthQuesters with some improv, jokes and even a dance-off. The room was filled to capacity and there were even people sitting on the floor, standing by the walls and out in the hallway trying to peek into the room to see what was going on. Jamie Potecha, the YouthQuest director, came to the front of the room and addressed the crowd, explaining what the purpose of YouthQuest is and a little bit about each team. And so, let the tryouts begin.
One by one, or in the Drama team's case, two by two, the potential YouthQuesters were led into the separate rooms for their auditions. Each team had specific things for their audtions: Drama auditions involved on-the-spot improv, Worship involved playing or singing along with the current band, Discipleship involved a 10 minute teaching and Media involved a display of work and explanation of experience.
"As we begin the task of narrowing down all of the applicants we are finding it extremely tough to choose between them all. Everyone that auditioned was extremely talented. I am greatly looking forward to beginning a new year with next year's team," said Potecha about last weeks auditions.
