Campus Artist Series
March 4, 2009Student Activities hosted yet another great Campus Artist Series Thursday, Feb. 12 in the Tilley Student Center. The featured artists were pop punks Stay Seventeen and alternative rockers hi.bye.jordan.
Stay Seventeen played their first official show as a full band in the summer of 2008 and has been together for about 6 months. The band consists of 5 members: Davis - vocals and bass; Josh - guitar; Aaron - guitar; Patrick - drums; and Allen who takes care of the synthesizer and everything else (like the glockenspiel and the banjo). The band inspiration comes from life situations like love and heartbreak. With so many members, Stay Seventeen has many musical influences. Influences include everything from MXPX, Mute Math and Muse to John Mayer, Andy Davis and Sigur Ros.
hi.bye.jordan. was formed back in October 2008 after a few members came and went and 7 years of planning. The bands name actually started as a joke between drummer David Einwechter and lead guitarist Daniel Shifflett, but after a while the name stuck. The rest of the band consists of vocalist Carly Hoffer and bassist Greg Loizou.
"Inspiration comes from all different places: sorrow, desperation, God. relationships," said guitarist Daniel Shifflett. Each member of hi.bye.jordan. has many different influences including Hayley Williams (Paramore), Travis Barker (blink 182) and Matt Thiessen (Relient K).
