Campus Artist Series

February 13, 2009

This past Thursday, Student Activities hosted Campus Artist Series in the Tilley Center. The featured artists were Jake Russo and Trey Rigdon.

Jake Russo, a solo artist, entertained the audience with his alternative/indie style with his acoustic guitar. Russo's music and writing is inspired by his relationships with God, women, and friends. He said he is influenced by Aaron Marsh of Copeland, Matt Thiessen of Relient K, and Ben Folds. Russo is a junior and a Public Relations major.

Trey Rigdon and his band followed Russo with a contemporary worship set. Joining Trey was Tanner Rigdon on drums, Lauren Sweeney on keyboard and vocals, Sabine Young on lead guitar and David McBride on bass. "I believe that with all my heart God has called me to lead worship in every venue I go into; whether that's a coffee shop acoustic show, Campus Artist Series, at a church, what I do I want to lead people closer to the cross," said Trey. Trey intends to help plant a church in Portsmouth/Chesapeake, VA and half of all his CD sales are put towards planting this church.

Liberty University is filled with artists and band like Jake and Trey. Students Activities does an awesome job in helping these artists pursue they're passion with Campus Artist Series.
